About Suzhou Industrial Park Global Internship Program (SIPGIP)
Suzhou Industrial Park Global Internship Program (SIPGIP) provides a valuable opportunity for enrolled students from overseas partner universities to enrich international internship experience in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), one of the leading National Economic and Technological Development Zones and fastest-growing areas of China. Serving as an important approach to attract high-level young talents from all around the world, the program offers various high-quality internship placements from major industries within SIP, including machinery manufacturing, electronic information, biomedicine, nanotechnology, etc. SIPGIP interns are supposed to conduct full-time work in host organizations with essential on-the-job training and monthly stipend given.
Launched in 2013, SIPGIP is administered by Suzhou Industrial Park Human Resources Development Co., Ltd. Previously, 2013 SIPGIP and 2014 SIPGIP have been successfully organized, hosting over 20 British interns under the China-UK Partners in Education Action Plan signed by the Chinese and British governments, and the partners include China Scholarship Council, Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, Soochow University, etc. In 2020, SIPGIP officially resumed its operation aimed at further promoting the internationalization of SIP and the gathering of high-end and urgently-needed talents by connecting overseas young students with SIP-based enterprises.
To encourage outstanding young talents to SIP, an intern from the world's top 100 universities with no less than 4-month internship duration is eligible to apply for SIP Internship Allowance (¥2,000 per month for 4-6 months) if the host company is a qualified SIP internship base. SIPGIP applicants must meet the following criteria:
● Currently enrolled full-time at a partner college, university outside of China, regardless of nationality;
● At least 18 years of age before the start of the internship;
● Able to finance privately for costs of visa, insurance, transportation, housing, meals and other living expenses during the internship period, in view of the internship stipend is unlikely to cover the total costs;
● Willing to work and live in a Chinese-speaking region with a diverse workforce.
Internship duration varies between different positions. In principle, SIPGIP internships run for 3 months to 1 years, and longer internships (over 6 months) are highly welcomed by most employers.
All SIPGIP interns will receive a monthly stipend (board and lodging excluded) from employers based on education level and employer's own pay scale, usually ranging from ¥2,000~4,000 per month.
Housing and Meals
SIPGIP does not provide housing and meals for interns unless the host company does. Interns are expected to make logistic arrangements by themselves and bear all the cost.
